What we collect when you use the lookup tool

When you submit a domain or URL to our lookup tool, we record the following:

• The submitted domain or URL.
• Your IP address — used for rate limiting (anonymous tier: 3 lookups per IP per 24 hours) and abuse prevention.
• Your browser's user agent string.
• A timestamp of the lookup.

This information is stored in our MariaDB database (table check_record) and, transiently, in our Redis cache.

What we do not collect

• No account is required to use the anonymous tier — we do not collect names, email addresses or payment details.
• We do not read or store any cookies set on the third-party sites we probe on your behalf.
• We do not fingerprint your browser beyond the user agent string described above.

The public "Recently checked" feed

Lookup results may appear on the public "Recently checked" feed on our homepage. A submitted domain is only eligible to appear if all of the following filters pass:

• The domain resolves on public DNS.
• The target page does not carry a noindex directive (HTML meta tag or X-Robots-Tag header).
• The domain is at least 30 days old.
• The host is not an internal or staging subdomain prefix (e.g. staging., dev., internal.).

Records roll off the feed after 60 days. Your IP address is never displayed publicly.

Data retention

• Anonymous lookup logs are retained for 60 days and then automatically pruned by the scheduled job bin/console app:feed:prune.
• Rate-limit counters in Redis expire on a rolling 24-hour window.

Third-party data sources used during a check

When you run a lookup, we query the following third-party services to enrich the result. The only data sent to these services is the queried domain or IP — no personal data about you is forwarded.

• ip-api.com — IP geolocation and ASN lookup.
• rdap.org and TLD WHOIS servers — domain registration data.
• Public DNS resolvers — for authoritative DNS records.
• The target site's own HTTP and TLS endpoints — to detect server headers, CDN signatures, CMS fingerprints and certificate issuers.

Legal basis for processing

We process personal data under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) on the following bases:

• Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) — for operating the lookup tool, preventing abuse and enforcing rate limits.
• Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — for any analytics or measurement cookies, which are only loaded after you accept the cookie banner.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to: access your data, request rectification, request erasure, request restriction of processing, data portability, and to object to processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact [email protected].

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority: the Office for Personal Data Protection of the Slovak Republic (Úrad na ochranu osobných údajov Slovenskej republiky).

International transfers

Data processed through this site is stored and processed within the European Union.

Children

This service is not directed to children under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly process personal data of such users.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be flagged on the homepage. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
